The Heyday of Transport - Archive Film Show

The East Sussex Omnibus Society presents John Bishop's latest Archive Film Show - The Heyday of Transport, at the Underground Theatre, Eastbourne Library in Grove Road at 7.30pm on Tuesday 1st May.

Come along and relive the magical days of transport during the 1950's and 60's.

Tickets are only £5 each including refreshments and are available on the door.

Mayfield Carnival - Service 52 Diversion

Owing to the Mayfield Carnival taking place on Saturday 12th May, Mayfield High Street will be closed to traffic between 1200 and 1600 hours. During this time Service 52 will be diverted via the A267 Mayfield By-Pass.

We can only apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Chesterfield Road Closure - Services 3 and 4 Diversion

Owing to roadworks closing Chesterfield Road on Saturday 12th Services 3 and 4 will not be able to serve bus stops in Wellcombe Crescent, Upper Dukes Drive or the Foot of Beachy Head and these services will start and finish in Meads Street opposite The Ship Public House.

We have now been notified that these works will last until Monday 21st May at the earliest and we can only apologise for any inconvenience caused by these roadworks.

Summer Timetable Improvements

Eastbourne Buses’ summer timetable is introducing evening and Sunday service and a faster route into the town centre from Hamlands. The changes begin on Sunday, May 13, and will see changes to routes in Hamlands and Willingdon Trees, as well as the end of buses on Anderida Road. Please check the table below to see how the changes will affect you.

Service Changes at a Glance
Hamlands As a result of complaints from residents, buses will be withdrawn from Anderida Road. Route 2A will be renumbered 1A and will be extended to serve Seaside, Langney Shopping Centre and Shinewater. New route 1C will run via Eastbourne Road and Victoria Drive and will provide a faster journey to and from Eastbourne Town Centre. Evening and all-day buses on Sundays will be introduced on routes 1A and 1C.

Willingdon Trees Route 2A will be renumbered 1A and will be extended to serve Seaside, Langney Shopping Centre and Shinewater. The number of buses during the evenings and on Sundays will double with the introduction of these journeys on route 1A. Morning peak time buses on route 2 will run up to 10 minutes earlier.

Winkney Farm Morning peak time buses on route 2 via Hampden Park and Eastbourne Hospital will run up to 10 minutes earlier.
Shinewater All buses after 7pm will not serve Milfoil Drive but will operate via Larkspur Drive and Friday Street. New route 1A will be introduced to provide an all-day link to Eastbourne Hospital without having to change buses in Eastbourne Town Centre. Buses on route 1 which currently terminate at Farlaine Road will be renumbered 1C and extended to Hamlands via Eastbourne Road.
Stone Cross In response to customer comments, a new journey at 0646 on Local 5 from Stone Cross will be introduced to provide an early direct bus to Eastbourne Hospital and the Town Centre.
Sovereign Harbour Route 51 will be serving Sovereign Harbour South instead of route 52 which will terminate at the Tesco superstore on Seaside. Sunday and bank holiday buses which are numbered 5 will be renumbered 51A and will run up to 20 minutes earlier.
Bridgemere Sunday and bank holiday buses which are numbered 5 will be renumbered 51A and will run up to 20 minutes earlier.
Upperton and Ocklynge Route 52 will operate via The Avenue and Enys Road instead of Upperton Road and Rodmill Drive due to traffic congestion. Sunday buses on route 51 will be renumbered 51A and will run up to 20 minutes earlier.
Old Town Route 2A will be renumbered 1A and will be extended to serve Seaside, Langney Shopping Centre and Shinewater all the day. Buses on route 1 which currently terminate at Farlaine Road will renmbered 1C and extended to Hamlands via Eastbourne Road.
Cherry Garden and Hill Road Extra buses will run on route 7 between Hill Road, Cherry Garden and the Town Centre on Mondays to Saturdays.
Polegate and Hailsham In response to customers comments, a revised and improved timetable will be introduced on routes 51 and 52.

Local 5 Timetable Leaflet

We have unfortunately noticed an error in our printed Local 5 timetable leaflet from Sunday 13th May 2007. The 1400 hours journey from Terminus Road heading towards Beachlands does not operate via Sovereign Harbour North on schooldays. We can only apologise most sincerely for any inconvenience this may cause.


  Eastbourne Area Saver7 Price Revision

From Sunday 13th May 2007 the price of the Eastbourne Area Saver 7 will rise to £13.00.


  Hailsham High Street - Service 51 Diversion

Owing to the Hailsham High Street being closed to traffic between 0830 and 1300 hours on Sunday 13th May Service 51A will be diverted via Vicarage Fields.

We can only apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Chesterfield Road Closure - Services 3 and 4 Diversion

The roadworks affecting Chesterfield Road have now finished and services 3 and 4 are now back to normal route.

Spring Bank Holiday

A Sunday Service will operate on the Spring Bank Holiday, Monday 28th May.
