Countycard changes from 1st April 2006

The situation regarding free travel for Countycard holders from 1st April 2006 will be as follows:

  • Holders of valid Sussex Countycards will be entitled to free travel from 1st April 2006 on all local bus services after 0900 hours.
  • Sussex Countycard holders will be issued with a "free travel ticket" issued by the driver from the ticket machine for every journey. You must ensure that you obtain this ticket.
  • The geographic area of validity will be the same as now.
  • Existing Sussex Countycards will remain valid until they expire. There will not be a mass re-issuing of Countycards.
  • All Sussex Countycard holders will receive the new free travel benefit, which includes the over 60’s and some disabled and blind people.
  • On Service 52 Kent OAP passes are also valid in the same way as Sussex Countycards, as now. Other than for this exception, OAP free travel permits issued by Councils elsewhere in the country will not be valid and full fare will be charged. The free travel arrangement is only for local travel not throughout the country.
