  Eastbourne Buses Centenary

2003 marks the Centenary of Municipal Motorbus operation in Eastbourne.

To celebrate this Eastbourne Buses is planning two events. The first on the Saturday 12th April 2003 sees the recreation of the historic first journey ever undertaken between Eastbourne Railway Station and Meads.

On Sunday 13th July 2003 Eastbourne's Historic Seafront will play host to Eastbourne Motorbus 100. The Bus Rally and Family Fun Day marks the Centenary of the oldest Municipal Motorbus Provider in the World.

We would like to hear from anybody who has any memories, photographs or other information on the earlier days of Eastbourne Buses or Eastbourne Corporation. If you have anything to share please contact us.

Battle Road, Hailsham - Diversion

Owing to roadworks, services 21, 22, 54 and 143 cannot use part of Battle Road in Hailsham when travelling outbound from Eastbourne. These services are using the Service 53 route which is London Road, Hawks Road and Hawthylands Road then Battle Road to Harebeating Stores. The roadworks are now expected to last approximately four weeks.

Late Running Services

Following an accident in Seaside near to The Archery at around 1600 hours, bus services using this road were caught in heavy traffic and suffered severe delays.

We apologise for any inconvienence caused by this.


Sunday 23rd Revised Timetables

Revised timetables start on Sunday 23rd February 2003. Timetable booklets are available at our Travel Office in Eastbourne Railway Station.
