Monday 5th Seaside Road Closure

Seaside Road is now reopen, the diversion via the Seafront is no longer in place and the Hippodrome Bus Stops are now back in use.

Saturday 10th Service 52 - Argos Hill, Mayfield Road Closure

The work was finished earlier than expected and therefore this diversion will not happen on Saturday 10th August 2002

Diversion due to Roadworks - Sundays 11th and 18th August.

BROAD ROAD - COPPICE AVENUE - FARMLANDS AVENUE JUNCTION, LOWER WILLINGDON

On the above Sundays, bus services 51 and 53 will be diverted to operate via the old A22 (Eastbourne Road) between Willingdon Triangle and Polegate Crossroads due to roadworks in the Farmlands Estate.

Services will not be affected on Mondays to Saturdays and the normal route will be resumed on Sunday 25th August 2002.

Airbourne 2002 - Special Bus Service

For the period of Airbourne 2002, 15th - 18th August, a car park will be sited at Five Acre field, at the end of Lottbridge Drove adjacent to the Sovereign Centre. A special bus service will be operated starting at 10 am from the Car Park to a bus stop on Grand Parade near the Pier. The service will operate every 15 minutes throughout the day with duplications at busy times and the last bus leaves at 7 pm.

The fare on this service will be £1-50 adult with one child travelling free (additional children charged at £1 per child) each way, including parking.


  Airbourne 2002 - Traffic Congestion

At peak times during Airbourne 2002 bus services in the Town may suffer disruption due to heavy traffic attending the above event.

Eastbourne Buses will make every attempt to operate services as close to the published time as possible.

  Airbourne 2002 - Seafront Service

Due to the problems caused by congestion along the seafront the Open-Top Seafront Service 3 will not operate on 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th August 2002.

Normal operations will resume on Monday 19th August.

Herstmonceux Castle Medieval Festival
Special Bus Service

The Herstmonceux Castle Medieval Festival is held annually over the August Bank Holiday Weekend. It has grown to become Britain's largest three day celebration of the middle ages! In this magical setting history will come to life. Hundreds of combatants with cannon support will siege the castle walls. Mounted Knights will joust and Europe's finest Archers will compete. Activities and entertainments for the whole family: Fire-Eaters, Falconry, Puppeteers, Strolling Minstrels, period Craft Stalls, Living History Village and Kid's Kingdom. If you are travelling to the event by rail, then catch a train to Polegate Rail Station. Eastbourne Buses are operating a special bus service from Polegate to Hertsmonceux Castle. A bus will depart every 30 minutes from 9:30 am. Buses will leave the festival on the hour and on the half-hour with the last bus departing at 6pm. The travel time is approximately 20 minutes and the cost is £1.50 adults and £1.00 concessions (children up to 16, OAP's and disabled people). Under 5's travel Free.
