More Low-Floor Buses join the Fleet
As part of the Company's modernisation moves a fleet of 10 low-floor buses are about to join the fleet as replacement for six double deckers with step entrances. The vehicles are only three years old and mark a major advance in the introduction of low-floor buses in the Town. The improved entrances and lack of steps will benefit all our customers but especially the elderly, disabled and mothers with young children and pushchairs. The vehicles can also accomodate wheelchair-bound passengers. It is proposed to introduce the vehicles onto routes 12/12A and 13/13A as soon as practical. The Company intends to keep a number of double deckers to cope with school loadings but as part of its service upgrade next year increased frequencies will generally allow a reduction in the number of double deckers required. There will be a progressive move towards a totally low-floor fleet as finances permit starting with the withdrawal of vehicles with the worst entrances in terms of step arrangements. |

End of Late Night Bus Service
We regret to announce that the Late Night Bus Services will no longer operate after 17th November 2001. The number of passengers using the service has not been sufficient to cover the costs involved so the service can no longer be sustained. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. |
