New Links for Polegate & Westham

Following the withdrawal of the Stagecoach services 17 and 17A between Dittons Wood (Polegate) and Stone Cross (Langney) Eastbourne Buses is providing a stop gap service on behalf of East Sussex County Council between Langney Shopping Centre and Polegate High Street numbered 5. This service operates on an hourly basis with additional journeys in the morning and evening peak periods. Timetables are available from our shops and also the driver on service 5. This timetable will be posted on our website in due course.

In addition the opportunity has been taken by the County Council to provide an improved service between Langney Shopping Centre and Westham & Pevensey. This service numbered 5A operates on an hourly basis between 0900 and 1430 hours. Through fares are available to points in Eastbourne on our other services by changing at Langney Shopping Centre. Again the timetable will be posted in due course.


Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th Mayor's Open Weekend

As the Company's contribution to the above event young people up to the age of 16 will be able to make single journeys for a maximum fare of 50 pence. The 40p child rate fare for travel within one zone will remain.

Steve Barnett, Managing Director, said, "We hope that this offer will encourage the young people of Eastbourne to give the bus a try as part of the Open Weekend Activities. We look forward to welcoming them aboard".

Easter Services

Eastbourne Buses will be operating a Sunday Service on Good Friday, 13th April, and Easter Monday, 16th April 2001.

Open-Top Seafront Service

The Open-Top Seafront Service was introduced on Good Friday, 13th April, and this year operates to and from the Sovereign Harbour. The service runs to the Top of Beachy Head on an hourly basis and will operate daily up until Sunday 30th September.

The restrictions on the Downs as a result of the Foot and Mouth epidemic have now been altered and the public is now able to enjoy free access to the Downs on the seaward side of the road plus access to the Beachy Head pub and Downland Heritage Centre. Therefore the service has now been restored to its full route and operates to and from the Top of Beachy Head.

Roadworks at DGH Roundabout

Severe delays to all services serving the District General Hospital are being experienced due to roadworks at the roundabout outside the Hospital roughly between the hours of 0900 and 1600 on Mondays to Fridays.

The work is expected to be completed on Friday 4th May.

Services affected are 11/11A, 12/12A, 13/13A and 14/14A.

The Company apologies most sincerely for the obvious delays and inconvenience caused to its customers throughout the Town. We will continue to do everything we can to alleviate the problems which you will appreciate are not of our making.
