Bus 10 - Dennis Javelin with Duple Bodywork was sent to Thamesdown Transport at Swindon for the fitting of DiPTAC handrails and bells.

March 1998
 

Bus 12 - Dennis Javelin with Duple Bodywork was sent to Thamesdown Transport at Swindon for the fitting of DiPTAC handrails and bells.

April 1998
 

Bus 282 - Leyland Titan PD2A left the Paintshop on 10th April following extensive bodywork refurbishment and a repaint into the traditional Eastbourne Corporation livery.

June 1998
 

AEC Regal number 11 took part in a Save the Children event at Buckingham Palace on the 2nd June. It was used to take various VIP's from the Palace to Waterloo Station for a trip on the Orient Express.

August 1998
 

Bus 258 - Leyland Olympian left the Paintshop on 12th August having been fully refurbished, including some repanelling, retrimming of all seats and the fitting of upper deck CCTV. It has also been repainted into fleet livery having previously carried an all-over advert for ESK Warehouse.

September 1998
 

DAF Optare Spectra 76 - S876 BYJ - was delivered on 4th September.

DAF Optare Spectra 77 - S877 BYJ - entered service on Friday 11th September, while 78 and 79 - S878/9 BYJ - entered service on Tuesday 22nd September.

October 1998
 

Although having already been in service, an official launch of our new Optare Spectras took place on Sunday 4th October. All twelve Spectras were lined up in front of our workshop and launched by the Mayor of Eastbourne cutting a ticket roll in front of guests from the local Council, Bus Industry and Eastbourne Buses employees.

A Dennis Dart Plaxton Pointer SPD Demonstrator arrived on Wednesday 14th October. The vehicle was registered S838 VAG and carried dealer white livery. It departed Eastbourne on Wednesday 21st October.

An Optare Excel demonstrator, R98 HUA, replaced the Plaxton Pointer SPD.
